Ingredients

Basbousa

  • 1 cup Semolina flour
  • 2 tbsp Coconut flour
  • ¾ cup Coconut milk
  • 1 tbsp Honey
  • 1 tbsp Coconut oil
  • 16 g Baking Powder
  • tsp Salt
  • Vanilla Extract

The Syrup

  • ½ cup Honey
  • ½ cup Hot water
  • Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 200C.
    Prepare your ingredients.

  • In a small saucepan, add coconut milk, coconut oil and 1tbsp honey. Heat over medium heat until warm.

  • Meanwhile, in a bowl mix semolina flour, coconut flour, baking powder, salt.

  • Brush an oven dish with coconut oil.

  • Add Vanilla extract to the warm milk mixture. Then add the mixture onto the dry ingredients, mixing well.

  • Transfer the mixture to the oven dish.
    Spread the basbousa mixture evenly.

  • Decorate with almonds.
    Bake in preheated oven until golden (around 30minutes)

  • Meanwhile prepare the syrup by adding 1/2 cup of hot water onto 1/2 cup of honey, and add vanilla. Stir well until well combined.

  • Pour the warm syrup evenly onto the basbousa while it is still hot.

  • Cover for at least an hour.
  • Serve and enjoy with your favourite hot drink 😋.
