Ingredients

  • 8 Whole wheat pita bread
  • 1 kg Lean minced beef
  • 1 Large onion finely grated
  • 1 Tomato finely chopped
  • 1 Pepper finely chopped
  • 1 Chilli pepper finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp Parsley finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp Vinegar
  • 1 Garlic clove minced
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • 1 tsp 7 Spice mix
  • ¼ tsp Nutmeg grated
  • ½ tsp Paprika
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 tbsp Butter

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 200°C.
    In a large bowl, add the minced beef, onion, tomato, peppers and parsley and all the spices. Mix well.

  • Using a sharp knife, cut open each pita halfway round creating a pocket.

  • Mix the butter and olive oil together. Brush the inside of each sandwich.

  • Add 2 tbsp of the meat mix and press down to fill out the entire base of the pita.

  • Brush the front and Back of the sandwich.

  • Wrap each sandwich with parchment paper, making sure all sides are covered.

  • Place the wrapped sandwiches on the baking sheet.

  • Bake in the preheated oven until the meat is fully cooked through. Remove the parchment paper and cook for another 10 minutes until the pita is crispy on both sides.

  • Serve with healthy garlic sauce, jalapenos and tomato garlic salad.
