Authentic Healthier Spanish Heart-shaped Churros
Churros or “Spanish Doughnuts” are the most delicious and yet the simplest dessert to prepare. Some years ago, I was introduced to the best churros in Madrid’s oldest Chocolatería: San Ginés, and since then I fell in love. Every bite was a little piece of heaven. The traditional recipe is vegan, all you need is flour, water, sugar and some oil for frying. For a healthier twist, I baked the churros instead. They were still as crispy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside. I prepared churros in heart shapes to be the ultimate Valentine’s day treat.
