Vegan Flaky Pie Crust with Coconut oil (no shortening)
A vegan pie crust recipe that is super easy, and produces a flaky delicious crust. It is prepared with only a few ingredients, and works with any type of pie filling. This pie is prepared with coconut oil and contains no shortening.
Flaky Vegan Pie Crust with Coconut Oil

Materials
- 1½ cup Wholemeal flour
- ½ cup Oats flour
- 2 tsp Brown sugar
- salt
- ½ cup Coconut oil solid
- 15 tbsp Iced water
Instructions
- Place your dry ingredients into a bowl.
- Add the coconut oil (must be solid) and mix until the mixture is crumbly. you can use your hands or a food processor.
- Drizzle the iced water one tablespoon at a time, while shaping the dough with your hands. Stop adding water when the dough can roll easily into a ball.
- Using a rolling pin roll it to a large circle, so that it can fit over your pie dish.
- Carefully lift it up and place it over your pie dish, tucking along the sides of the pie dish.Place it in the fridge for a minimum of half an hour, till you are done with preparing your filling.This pie crust can be used with any type of filling including pumpkin, apple, etc.
